Kansas City International Airport Reports December 2025 and full year Passenger Traffic

The Kansas City Aviation Department reports that 939,833 passengers arrived and departed through Kansas City International Airport’s gates in December, a 2.94-percent decline from December 2024. Passenger boardings were down -5.46 percent, with a total of 480,350 boarded.

Air cargo tonnages, which consist of both freight and mail transported by air, for all carriers at Kansas City International were down -9,42 percent in December with a total of 21.85 million pounds handled. Year to date, 247.5 million pounds of air cargo has been handled, up 1.19 percent.

The number of peak-day scheduled aircraft departures for December 2025 was 161. Service was offered to 47 nonstop markets. There was an average of 40,720 arriving and departing scheduled seats in the market each day. The all-cargo carriers reported 9 daily departures for December.

In 2025, Kansas City International Airport served 11.5 million passengers, a decrease of 5.5%. 2024 was a record year for air travel at MCI, with 12.1 million passengers.
