Kansas City International Airport Reports May 2025 Passenger Traffic

The Kansas City Aviation Department reports that 1,051,159 passengers arrived and departed through Kansas City International Airport’s gates in May, a 5.2-percent decline from May 2024. Passenger boardings were down 5.7 percent, with a total of 535,921 boarded. Year-to-date passenger boardings are 2,190,419, down 7.2 percent. For the year to date, total passengers in and out total 4,380,326, down 7.0 percent.

Air cargo tonnages, which consist of both freight and mail transported by air, for all carriers at Kansas City International were down 17.8 percent in May with a total of 19.6 million pounds handled. Year to date, 97.8 million pounds of air cargo has been handled, down 7.4 percent.

The number of peak-day scheduled aircraft departures for May 2025 was 165. Service was offered to 54 nonstop markets. There was an average of 43,867 arriving and departing scheduled seats in the market each day. The all-cargo carriers reported 8 daily departures for May.
