Kansas City International Airport Reports March 2024 Passenger Traffic
The Kansas City Aviation Department reports that 1,034,660 passengers arrived and departed through Kansas City International Airport’s gates in March, a 9.6-percent increase from March 2023. Passenger boardings were up 8.9 percent, with a total of 511,259 boarded. Year-to-date passenger boardings are 1,305,895, up 7.0 percent. For the year to date, total passengers in and out total 2,626,072, up 7.4 percent.
Air cargo tonnages, which consist of both freight and mail transported by air, for all carriers at Kansas City International were up 5.7 percent in March with a total of 21.7 million pounds handled. Year to date, 60.4 million pounds of air cargo has been handled, up 2.3 percent. Air freight handled at Kansas City International during March amounted to 21.6 million pounds, up 9.7 percent year-over-year. Year to date, air freight is up 4.9 percent with a total of 60.3 million pounds handled. Air mail for March was down 88.0 percent from March 2023 with 99,870 pounds handled. Air mail year to date for 2024 is down 92.6 percent from 2023 with 117,141 million pounds handled.
The number of peak-day scheduled aircraft departures for March 2024 was 151. Service was offered to 50 nonstop markets. There was an average of 43,072 arriving and departing scheduled seats in the market each day. The all-cargo carriers reported 9 daily departures for March.
